Aided by war veteran Holwell Brown, White Nights café owner Arielle, Dal and Charlotte Mouswald, along with shady detective Paul Brothers and the equally surreptitious accountant Morton Campbell, Jake recounts each of their lives and how everybody has become wet in the rain somehow. Even when the ashes are still burning.
